In June 2018, the U.S. FDA permitted marketing of two catheter-based devices designed to create dialysis AVF via percutaneous catheter-guided techniques. Devices function to avoid aspects of surgical complications: poor incisional site healing, Vessel clamping and dissection. Now, over five years since their first reports, percutaneous AVF is one of the most innovative and significant steps forward in native dialysis vascular access (VA) creation.

Describe the steps of the pAVF endovascular procedure
Identify the criteria for patient selection
Demonstrate the step-by-step duplex ultrasonography protocol used for the pre-operative vessel mapping and post-operative surveillance.
