SVU On Demand Webinar 110624: Dialysis Access Steal Evaluation Procedures
SVU On Demand Webinar 110624: Dialysis Access Steal Evaluation Procedures
Presenter: Shannon York, BS RVT RDCS

Webinar Overview:
This overall objective of this webinar presentation titled “Dialysis Access Steal Evaluation Procedures” is to provide sonographers with an overview of the pathology associated with dialysis steal in addition to an effective and efficient workflow for the ultrasound examinations associated with confirming or excluding dialysis steal. This procedure is making its way into vascular labs across the country and a better understanding of the testing procedures will improve the accuracy of the results while reducing the amount of time a sonographer will spend performing the procedures.

Objectives:
1. Attendees will better understand the pathology associated with true dialysis steal and be aware of several differential diagnoses that often mimic or exacerbate steal syndrome.
2. Attendees will be able to adopt testing procedures and workflows in their labs based on those suggested in the presentation by understanding the rationale for the performance of each examination.
3. Attendees will better understand that evaluation for dialysis steal can be easily executed by adhering to a simple step-by-step process that will ultimately confirm or exclude steal or suggest an alternate underlying pathology in cases where steal is not present, thereby making the examination process much easier to navigate. Suggested testing procedures will also lead to comprehensive reports that allow for easier physician interpretation and intervention planning.
