Pdf Summary
The first abstract discusses a case study of a 28-year-old male who presented with a palpable mass at the right temple and was found to have a 5mm aneurysm of the right temporal artery. The aneurysm was excised and histopathological findings were consistent with active juvenile temporal arteritis. Due to the benign nature of the disease, conservative observation was deemed the best course of action.

The second abstract focuses on the evaluation of iliac veins in a patient with lower extremity edema. Ultrasound-guided visualization revealed a complex structure visibly compressing the right common and external iliac veins. The patient's symptoms and the loss of phasicity in the venous waveform suggested extrinsic compression. Further imaging was planned to determine the etiology of the mass.

The third abstract discusses the use of transcranial Doppler (TCD) in diagnosing and managing reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS). TCD monitoring of cerebral artery mean flow velocities helps guide optimum blood pressure management in patients with RCVS, preventing complications without worsening cerebral ischemia and edema.

The fourth abstract presents the non-invasive evaluation of a 58-year-old female with phlegmasia alba dolens. The arterial waveform analysis and ankle-brachial indices revealed impaired arterial flow in the lower extremities, which was caused by compartment syndrome. The patient received tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) and balloon angioplasty to restore blood flow.

The fifth abstract describes the detection of fibromuscular dysplasia in bilateral popliteal arteries of a 68-year-old female. The duplex examination revealed a classic "string of beads" pattern in color Doppler and gray scale imaging, indicating FMD. The patient will undergo further imaging to assess for FMD in other arteries.

The sixth abstract presents a challenging case of high diastolic flow in the proximal external carotid artery. Different hypotheses were considered, including severe carotid stenosis, collateral flow, and anatomical abnormalities. The final diagnosis was a dural fistula associated with ECA branching.

The final abstract discusses a case of trauma-induced arteriovenous fistula (AVF) and malformation (AVM) in a 67-year-old patient. The upper extremity arterial duplex revealed a fistula between the radial artery and cephalic vein. Surgical repair was performed to ligate the venous connections and resect the cephalic vein, resulting in complete resolution of symptoms.

Overall, these abstracts highlight the use of ultrasound and TCD in diagnosing and managing various vascular conditions, including aneurysms, extrinsic compression, RCVS, phlegmasia alba dolens, fibromuscular dysplasia, and trauma-induced AVF and AVM.
