Pdf Summary
This document contains abstracts of various case studies presented at the Society for Vascular Ultrasound 2022 Annual Conference.

Abstract 1: The first abstract discusses a rare complication of late embolization of an Amplatzer vascular plug (AVP) following mitral paravalvular leak repair. The embolized AVP was visualized in the proximal superficial femoral artery.

Abstract 2: The second abstract focuses on a case of midaortic syndrome, a rare condition characterized by segmental or diffuse narrowing of the abdominal aorta. The patient presented with fatigue, abdominal pain, and hypertension, and imaging tests confirmed the diagnosis.

Abstract 3: The third abstract discusses the use of ultrasound to detect and assess the impact of Amplatzer plugs II, which are endovascular embolic devices. The study compares the impact of the plugs in the right arm versus the leg.

Abstract 4: The fourth abstract highlights a case of a nonmobile dissection with aneurysmal dilation in the left internal carotid artery. The patient presented with neck and shoulder pain, and ultrasound and imaging tests confirmed the diagnosis.

Abstract 5: The fifth abstract presents a case of transient perivascular inflammation of the common carotid artery bifurcation using ultrasonographic B-mode imaging. This inflammatory condition was characterized by hypoechogenic plaquing or tissue engulfing the arterial wall.

Abstract 6: The sixth abstract describes a pseudoaneurysm in the middle of an axillobifemoral bypass graft. Ultrasound revealed a complete rupture and formation of a pseudoaneurysm around the level of the 10th rib.

Abstract 7: The seventh abstract discusses a case of a rare internal jugular vein invasion by thyroid carcinoma. Ultrasound played a crucial role in diagnosing the tumor thrombus.

Abstract 8: The final abstract discusses the benefits of ultrasound-guided cannulation for dialysis vascular access. The role of the vascular technologist in selecting suitable segments for cannulation and diagnosing complications was highlighted.

Overall, these case studies demonstrate the various applications of ultrasound in diagnosing and managing vascular conditions.
